This condition consists of a highly localized pain occurring in the ball of the foot. This is usually due to a combination of high arches and poor shoe support. However, the condition can also be brought on or aggravated by various unequal weight distributions resulting from pelvic imbalances.

Doctor's Treatment Plan
The treatment involves reducing any swelling, followed by stretching exercises. Because the affected area is in the ball of the foot, often times patients find it difficult to provide relief. However, with new shoes with special arch support and a regimen of exercise and chiropractic treatment, it is possible for a patient to correct the problem. Duke Chiropractic also works closely with podiatrists to co-treat patients with special orthotic requirements (such as specially designed shoe-inserts for support).

Note: It should always be considered that not all injuries are spinal related, and therefore not all injuries can be fully corrected with the benefit of chiropractic medicine. Further, the injury profiles and recommendations for treatment should in no way be used as a substitute for the care of a physician.
