HOW DUKE CHIROPRACTIC TREATS NECK PAIN

Your path to wellness starts here. From diagnosis to treatment, our expert team of Chiropractic physicians uses innovative technologies to help you regain mobility and return to an active life. Treatment varies by case, but, in general, depending on type, pain, duration, and cause, patients can expect:

  1. Evaluation. We first rule out red flags and harmful situations that may require emergency care. Next, we provide a full orthopedic neurological evaluation, looking for abnormalities that replicate your symptoms during movement.
  2. Treatment plan. Duke Chiropractic will customize a treatment plan, generally lasting 6-8 weeks, that takes into account your risk factors such as age, physical fitness, your job (sitting for long periods, for example), and family history.

Treatment may include but not be limited to:

WHEN TO SEEK TREATMENT

Cervical spine dysfunction is the most common cause of neck pain, affecting individuals of all ages. It is slightly more prevalent between ages 12 and 50. Contributing factors include falling asleep in an awkward position and having too little cushioning of discs between the vertebrae. Here are just a few common signals that you should contact Duke Chiropractic for treatment:

  • Neck pain
  • Difficulty moving or turning your head
  • Frequent or worsening headaches
  • Sharp knife-like pain between the shoulder blades
  • Forward head carriage and rounded hump in upper back
  • Difficulty sleeping or moving around in bed
  • Numbness and tingling that travels into your arm and hand
  • Loss of arm strength
