Running Strain

This condition is characterized by localized pain and swelling in the inner area of the heel bone and the arch of the foot.

Doctor's Treatment Plan
Acute:
Treatment consists of reducing any swelling in the affected area, followed by a series of stretching exercises designed to rehabilitate muscles and increase strength, so as to avoid future injuries.

Chronic:
The treatment is much like that above: the individual patient needs to be evaluated and his/her condition addressed. Swelling must be reduced and a regimen of care needs to be prescribed and followed. However, in chronic cases the patient may also be referred to a podiatrist for orthotic work.

Note: It should always be considered that not all injuries are spinal related, and therefore not all injuries can be fully corrected with the benefit of chiropractic medicine. Further, the injury profiles and recommendations for treatment should in no way be used as a substitute for the care of a physician.
