Shin Splints

This condition is characterized by a marked pain occuring on either the inside or outside portion of the shin. It is frequently caused by running or other aerobic activity. If shin splints are left untreated, they can eventually lead to stress fractures, a condition which requires more intensive medical care and rehabilitation.

Doctor's Treatment Plan
The treatment consists of reducing swelling with a combination or ice and electric physiotherapies. This will be followed by stretching and exercises to rehabilitate the affected mucles and eventually increase strength in order to prevent future injury.

Note: It should always be considered that not all injuries are spinal related, and therefore not all injuries can be fully corrected with the benefit of chiropractic medicine. Further, the injury profiles and recommendations for treatment should in no way be used as a substitute for the care of a physician.
